Dr. Abid Raza Butt | General Surgeon | Laparoscopic Surgeon

I’m Dr. Abid Raza, a laparoscopic Surgeon with over 25 years of experience in general surgery, laparoscopic surgery, bariatric and cancer surgery, emergency care, and family medicine. I’ve had the privilege of working across Pakistan, Saudi Arabia (KSA), and Canada, treating patients from diverse backgrounds.

My approach is simple: put the patient first, listen carefully, and provide care that respects your needs, values, and choices.

My Journey in Medicine

I began my career as a general surgeon, managing both emergency and elective surgeries, including polytrauma cases, cancer surgery, and bariatric procedures. Over time, I expanded into family medicine and primary care, focusing on preventive health, chronic disease management, and holistic care.

My Surgical Expertise

I have extensive experience in laparoscopic (minimally invasive) surgery, including:

  • Appendectomy
  • Gallbladder removal (lap cholecystectomy)
  • Varicocelectomy
  • Ovarian cyst surgery
  • Hysterectomy

This combination of surgical skill and primary care experience allows me to treat the whole patient, not just a single problem.

I am also a Senior General, Laparoscopic, Bariatric & Cancer Surgeon with over 25 years of experience in Pakistan and abroad. I provide expert care for a wide range of general surgery problems, including:

  • Painful or painless lumps, swellings, boils, cysts, skin bumps
  • Ingrown toenails and circumcision
  • Minor surgical procedures

I am highly experienced in key abdominal and digestive surgeries, such as:

  • Gall bladder stones and appendix pain
  • All types of hernia: groin, umbilical, incisional
  • Intestinal and bowel tumors, colorectal cancer

I provide complete treatment of anal and perianal conditions, including:

  • Fissure, fistula, piles (hemorrhoids)
  • Perianal abscess
  • Pilonidal sinus

Other areas of specialization include:

  • Scrotal swelling surgeries: hydrocele, varicocele, testicular tumors
  • Breast pain and lumps, breast cancer
  • Thyroid and salivary gland swellings, neck lumps
  • Varicose veins and weight-loss (bariatric) surgery

All procedures are performed with a safe, ethical, and patient-focused approach, ensuring the best outcomes while respecting patient comfort and dignity.

Patient-Centered Care Philosophy

I strongly believe that good healthcare is a partnership between doctor and patient. This means:

  • Listening first: Understanding your story, concerns, and lifestyle
  • Shared decision-making: Involving you in every step of your care
  • Respecting autonomy: Honoring your values, beliefs, and choices
  • Holistic care: Treating the whole person, not just the disease
  • Health equity: Ensuring everyone has access to high-quality care

Whether it’s emergency surgery, routine check-ups, or long-term care, my goal is to provide safe, compassionate, and effective care.

Teaching, Mentoring & Surgical Training

I am passionate about teaching and mentoring young doctors and medical students, especially in surgical techniques and patient-centered care. I actively participate in:

  • Clinical and bedside teaching
  • Case-based discussions
  • Structured surgical training

I believe that well-trained doctors provide better care, and I take pride in helping the next generation of healthcare professionals grow.

Experience in International & Local Healthcare

I have worked across different healthcare systems, giving me a unique perspective on cultural sensitivity, patient needs, and systemic healthcare challenges:

  • In KSA, I managed polytrauma and emergency surgical cases in high-acuity hospitals.
  • In Canada, I gained experience in community-based, preventive, and continuity-focused care.
  • In Pakistan, I worked extensively in underserved areas and community clinics, gaining firsthand knowledge of health equity issues, access challenges, and social determinants of health.

This combination allows me to blend global best practices with local understanding to provide safe, effective, and culturally sensitive care.
